I’ve been a regular on Poker Encore for quite a while now, both on my own and through BRS (Bankroll Supply). Along with Simon ‘Amatay’ Jones who I’ll soon be travelling round the world with for 10 months I’ve been made a Sponsored Pro of the site.
How? Why? A bit of background maybe you might ask, or just who the ***k’s that fella with the big nose?
My name is Cos and I was a poker coach before poker coaching was even invented. I actually invented the 8-bet bluff and taught Paul Jackson (my first student) this move. He failed to make it a worldwide sensation when he did it against that Robot they call Phil Ivey. I didn’t let his loss here deter me and decided to move on to bigger and better students, (about 3 and a half foot bigger in the case of Karl) and took on Mr Mahrenholz within my pool of students. (Others included Brian Townsend, Phil Galfond and Patrik Antonius, the latter proved difficult due to his English being poor, so I took two weeks off to learn fluent Finnish and made him the star he is today). At this time I was like the Greek Durrrr/Isildur1 and was approached by two young fish in the names of Praz Bansi and James Akenhead who asked me to form a part of their Poker Hitsquad. Not wanting to overshadow these guys (I’m far too strong to be anything but a one man band) I declined. Being ridiculously appreciative of the men I made them today, Karl and Paul asked me to represent the site.

Real story for anyone who hasn’t had the misfortune of meeting me, is I’m 23 and currently work in media. My job ends in 2 weeks time as I handed my notice in to go travelling round the world for 10 months. During this time I’ll be playing a lot of poker, mostly on Poker Encore where I play predominantly PLO cash from as small as $0.25/50 up to $5/10. I’ll be documenting my antics and poker on here for the duration. I don’t plan on going away until September so the meantime will be full of how I’m finding the leap into the crazy world professional poker from the sanity of a paid job. One thing’s for sure, I won’t miss 7am.
I’ll be at Monte Carlo in Nottingham playing the £1k next week and then not long after in Vegas to grind some cash games and play the WSOP main event. I actually won a $5k package to get to Vegas through the site.
